Standard New Years Eve Recap Post
For those of you who don’t know, New Years is my favorite holiday ever. However ask me in October & I’ll say it’s halloween or ask me in July & it will always be the 4th. Basically, any holiday where it’s acceptable to get shitshow drunk is a good holiday in my book.
Anyways…
I’m spending this year in my hometown but not at home. Which pretty much sums up my year in a nutshell. I’m at home, yet I’m not. Physically I’m in the same place I’m always been yet it’s not the same. Meeting new people & going to a new school really has opened my eyes to a world outside the bubble I’d created for myself in high school. && I love it.
The Highlights:
Jeff’s beach house with the ladies friends immediately after 1st sem finals
Getting a job at Aero & gaining a second family
WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY, Pullman trip
California Gurls Disneyland trip
Seattle & Oregon for the Maines Headliner
Starting College
Midwestern adventure to see Anuja
But I’d have to say out of everything, becoming even closer to my mom this year is really my highlight. When everyone I knew left for college I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do. It was a sink or swim moment that I wouldn’t have gotten through without her. She puts up with my bullshittery & I put up with hers. She lets me wake her up at all hours of the night to tell her worthless stories. She listens to all me talk about work 24/7 & doesn’t hit me. I’ve always known that no matter what I have her by my side, but this year we’ve become even closer, which is something I didn’t think was possible. I really have no idea how to put into words the relationship I have with my mom, it’s a closeness that I don’t think most people can understand. We definitely don’t have the typical mother-daughter relationship & for that I an thankful. I can’t imagine having a mother that wasn’t like a best friend. Taylor Swift put it best, “I dont know who Im gonna talk to now at school, But I know Im laughing on the car ride home with you, Dont know how long its gonna take to feel okay, But I know I had the best day with you today.”
So here’s to 2011, the only possible way it can top 2010 is if Ke$ha shows up at our rager tonight or I win the lottery & move to long beach. Here’s to an amazing family, incredible friends, health, wealth, success & good looks. 2011, I can’t wait to meet you in a few hours!
